Pictures on Wood

It seems like forever since I've crafted anything! Well I fixed that by hitting up hob lob this last week.

My first project:

Modpodging (pretty sure that's not a word lol) pictures on Wood. Ive seen a few on Pinterest but none on the plaques they sell at hobby lobby.

Here's what I used:

*Acrylic paint(any color) I started with brown, didn't like it so I used white.
*ModPodge I used the Matte one, i read some where it works best for the pictures.
*Sponge brush
*2 unfinished wood plaques (about the size of your pictures)
*2 (4x6) pictures
(Not pictured, the sandpaper)

First I painted the wood, 3 coats each. I did not paint the backs, just the sides and a little where i put the pictures.

After the paint dried I put Modpodge on the back of the pictures the stuck them to the wood, flattened it out with the side of my hand.

When that was dried about 10 mins, I put one more coat on the front of the pictures.

After it dried it looked like this, which to me looked a bit plain. So I attempted to "distress" it, by that I mean take some brown paint and just barely touched the sides.
*TIP: keep a wet paper towel near, to wipe away any excess or to make the brown lighter.

The finished project.

The new pic, next to our bed. Aww i know :)

Notice the once brown plaque? Yeah it looked awful, so I painted over it in white and used the sandpaper to rough up the sides. I also sandpapered the actual pictures on the ends to blend them better with the wood. I already had some easels to display them, but you could easily attach some ribbon or a hanger on the back.
This cost me about $2.94, that was for the pictures I printed at Walgreens and the wood plaques. I already had the paint, modpodge, and sandpaper at the house. I'd love to make these again using a bigger plaque. Hope y'all enjoy it!

Oh yeah, and a Weigh In Wednesday(okay Thursday) update:
Gained a pound. Three words for ya, Super Bowl Sunday. I may have over indulged. Eh whatevs, here's to a new week!

Weigh In Wednesday

As promised I'm back with my results from this last week!

I was 158.8 which means I'm down .4 from last Wednesday. And honestly I'm not happy about it! I may have cheated and stepped on the scale a few days earlier, which showed I had lost .8! I was so pumped about it, that I continued eating under my calorie goal & exercising 4 x. So when I saw I was up .4 today it kinda crushed me. I mean how can I be exercising almost daily and eating my calories perfectly just to be down .4 total?! Ugh So ya know what I did?

Took my butt to Whataburger. Yup. I did. Got a Jr Monterrey Melt, medium fries, diet coke. Did I feel better after? Nope. But I tracked it, and with my exercise for the day I'll sit be under my calories after dinner & dessert! SCORE! lol

I've caught myself trying to make sure even my "cheat meal" fits in my calories for the day. That is huge people! Usually I'll get down on myself, say screw it. Eat ALL the bad things I can get my hands on and say I'll try again tomorrow. Not now, I've been dusting myself off after THAT meal. Not waiting until tomorrow or next Monday. Because you know you cant start a diet on any other day lol

This is how the last week went as far as exercise & food:

Weds: Couch25K & 30 mins elliptical Calories:1197
Thurs: No walking bad weather Calories:1329
Fri: Again Bad weather schools closed, roads were bad. Calories:2226 (Eh cold weather makes me hanngry lol)
Sat: Biggest loser DVD 25 mins(Couldn't skip another day!) Calories: 1394
Sun: C25K & 30 mins elliptical calories:1519
Mon: 25 mins on elliptical Calories:1370
Tues: C25K & 30 mins elliptical Calories: 1347
Weds: C25K & 30 mins elliptical calories:1640

The calories are NOT including exercise. I try for 1350 a day, and don't (usually) eat the amount I burn from exercise.

I'd have to say I did pretty well! My eating could be better, but I'm killin' these workouts! :)

My goals for this week. Um see 157.ANYTHING! I think the reason I gained .4 is because I'm new at running so I could be retaining water from all the soreness I have.

Here is our meal plan for this week:
Weds: Slow Cooker Jambalaya
Thurs: Tater Tot Casserole
Fri: Chicken Gyros
Sat: Slow Cooker Chicken Parmesan
Sun: Italian Roast Sandwiches & appetizers for Superbowl
Mon: Hamburger Helper Beef Stroganoff
Tues: Chicken Tacos

**All of our meals Weds-Sun are from Southern Living Yankee blog. I found her blog over a year ago when I was on Weight Watchers. I've used her recipes even when I haven't watched my weight! That's how good they are y'all! Seriously, check her out if you haven't already! :)

Til next time!

Weigh In Wednesday!

Alrighty, so I definitely did NOT see myself sharing my weight loss with anyone, let alone the whole damn internet! But I want to use blogging as a way to keep myself accountable. I always love a good weight loss blog. So inspiring! Well here I am, attempting to do the same.

Let me start off by saying, I am NOT perfect. I know this. I do not need anyone to come on here and tell me what I'm eating is A.Processed B.Not good for me C.Not clean eating, etc.
For now I'm counting my calories, and hitting the gym. Hopefully along the way I can make better choices and cut out a lot of crap from my diet. Let me tell y'all, I love food. Like semi-obsessed.
Mmm delicious points...
My weakness...hm geez what don't i love lol i love burgers, sushi, and mostly fast food. ALL THE FAST FOOD! :)

and last but certainly not least...
LOTS. OF DR PEPPER.

I love my Dr peppers, I switched to Diet a few years back. Still I know its not the best for me. Merp.

Here I am after marriage and 2 kids, fat and happy. :) My husband is very into his health, he loves eating healthy, exercising. Seriously, i hate it. I wish it came to me as easy as it does him.
Truthfully, I use food to deal with my feelings. Ive done this since I was a teen, since I wasn't old enough to drink I used food to numb my emotions. To this day, I turn to food to soothe myself. It needs to stop!

Every Wednesday I will be blogging:
*My weight loss(or gain lol)
*My workout plan for the week
*Recipes I want to make for the week

THIS WEEK:

EXERCISE:
Mon-2 mile walk at softball practice
Tues-Gym(C25K,Elliptical)
Weds-Gym(C25K,Elliptical)
Thurs-2 mile walk
Fri-Gym(C25K,Elliptical)
Sat&Sun-Not a damn thing ;)

and my fav FOOD:
Mon-Dinner Out!
Tues-Steak with Mushrooms,Sliced Potatoes,and grilled zucchini
Weds-Cajun Beef Casserole
Thurs-Hamburger Helper
Fri-Pork Chop Casserole
Sat-Burgers
Sun-Leftovers?

Oh and I'm suppose to post my weight huh?

Are you ready for it?

Here it goes...

159.2.

There you have it. I'm 5'1, maybe 5'2. So this is ALOT of weight on a short body.
My goal is 135. I started trying to lose weight 12/24/13. I started at 168.8. I tried doing the HCG diet to get some weight off. That shit is HARD! I only lasted 15 days, but I lost 10.6 lbs in those 15 days. I don't regret trying it because I think it jump started my motivation.

So please follow me as I make 2014 the year I get healthy!

Guess who's back?

Hey everyone! It's been quite awhile, sorry about that! I've been busy going to school (and graduating) for Dental Assistant. So it was tough to keep up with blogging as well as softball tournaments and just keeping up with the house.

Hopefully I can get back to some sort of blogging :)

Here is the last party we had for my youngest Myla.

First of all I'd like to give credit to  sweetrosestudio.com. She had awesome and FREE owl printables, and since money was tight around her birthday I wanted to keep it simple and cheap.

 Cute Little banner!

I wrapped a cardboard 3, in some yarn. And put paper shreds and made a centerpiece.

To keep it cheaper I just got our cake made at the grocery store instead of the cake lady I usually go to.

How cute is the pink owl?!

Mini Cupcakes that match!

I used some tags and yarn, tied them around some mason jars.

Gift bags were from the Dollar Tree, I found these 2 years ago! Finally had a chance to use them.

Well thats it for now, see yall soon!

{Tiffany Blue & Zebra Bridal Shower}

Today I'm sharing the first bridal shower I helped plan.
It was for my sister in law, so we planned something young & fun.
Tiffany Blue & Zebra.
I love Tiffany blue, and the zebra look cute with it!

(Please forgive the crappy pics, my phone was old)

Dessert Table

Veggies

Water bottles wrapped with duck tape, and Tiffany blue sugar on the rims of the glasses.

We served a Moscato Punch, that had raspberries and sprite in it. Sooo good!

Painted Terra Cotta Pots with mini loofahs & body wash

Game Prizes

Towel Cake & Bridal shower favors

Favors

For the favors I bought mini candles from Bath & Body Works.
I used little gift bags from hobby lobby. Put a label with a "B" for Britani.
Then stuffed a little tissue paper in.

Tiffany Blue Towel Cake

I saw some towel cakes on pinterest, then recruited my mom to help me figure out how to make one. lol
We were totally clueless, but with a little (ok a lot) of help from YouTube we got it.
Then we added a few kitchen utensils and a cute sign for the laundry room. I also have this sign hanging right on my laundry room door. You know just to remind him haha.

That's all I have, I really wish I would have taken more/better pictures. Especially the games we played, but i was busy co-hosting and drinking. What can I say, I have a weakness for Moscato ;)

Til next time

{Diaper Cakes}

I've helped my mom with quite a few diaper cakes over the years, but a few days ago I made one SOLO.
I had bought everything, then planned on having my mom come over and help me. Then that night I got that itch to craft some shit.

Cute, right?!
Personally I love more "plain" diaper cakes, like this one. Without all the toys and lotions. But everyone is different. I did add some lotion, and body wash to this one. It was a cake for a friend on my FB who wanted to send it to a family member out of state. She told me the mommy to be wanted hot pink and green. I got the baby's initial to put on top, the bows are hair bows (so she can use them as well as the diapers). In the middle was a large and small baby bottle.

I did the diaper cake similar to this one {Here}

I've never had a diaper cake shipped but I used shrink wrap from Hobby Lobby.
I used medium size, but i will use small next time.
After I put the shrink wrap on, that bad boy wasn't moving!

Here is some of the past diaper I've help put together.

Despicable Me Movie Night

We did this a few months ago, and the kids (and I haha) had fun.

Our Menu:
Minion Meatball Subs

Gru's Garden Salad

Carnival Curly fries

Dr Nefario's Anti Gravity Serum

Robot Cookies

"Its So Fluffy" Cotton Candy

Kids loved dinner!

This is just calypso lemonade Kiwi flavor

Of course Cotton Candy!!!

Wish I could take credit for the menu, but I can't. My best friend Michele came up with it, I'm very lucky to have a friend who shares the same love for kid movies :)

Next time I plan a movie night I definitely, want to put more time into it. The last two were last minute, but still really cute!
